Its obvious that they have been forced by legislators (who don't drive the cars ) to make changes . I have nothing against electric or hybrid cars . What I dont like is not having a choice . I am all in favor of being clean to the planet but I do not feel that cars are the main environmental catastrophe . In fact to build the infrastructure will, pollute . I do not feel that electric cars will be a forever thing . Huge problems have already surfaced with EV cars . The fact that the Felicity Ace fire could not be extinguished is a recent example . So was hurricane Ian when a last minute call to evacuate left EV owners stranded who lacked enough charge . I fear that the public may have this foisted on them . At first there will be incentives and rebates only to have then yanked out . Charging will climb in price as demand surges . Homes with 5 or 6 EV cars will become difficult to manage . Apartment and condo will be even worse .
They can't even get the EV battery to last at the track . Just when everyone gets sucked into this nonsense just watch an alternative fuel emerge that outdates this .
Dont even try to reason this with the folks who have been indoctrinated . Its coming but that doesn't mean its exciting .

I agree and I’m not against EV. I’m also for protecting the planet but those who regard the electric car as a significant solution for climate change don’t seem to understand the incredible scale of the problem. And like you said, the electric car “solution” accelerates other problematic trend ( mining, energy storage, autonomy, etc.)

What we really need to do is seriously imagine a society with fewer vehicles and drivers. But that’s not going to happen.

That said, a 911 Hybrid doesn’t sound too bad. 😅

I think there are a lot of people who are fake do gooders. they simply want to present the image of themselves as one who really cares and is actively doing something about it. The reality is when you tighten most of their screws about something they don’t want which really benefits society they are nowhere to be found. They will drive the Tesla right up to animal services and drop off their dog or the cat simply because it doesn’t match their curtains.

I like choice…..its America right! Don’t force me to purchase an electric car that I would be afraid to drive and having to pull over to charge it. I’m all about keeping it simple. Why complicate things.

I’m not interested in buying one, at least not for now, but I’m very interested to see what Porsche come up with. It won’t be a big hit with the purists but it’s guaranteed to be fast which will attract a lot of buyers.

As for saving the planet….this might suggest the root of the problem. An electric car isn’t going to have any meaningful impact.

No EV for me from prior history. We were out of power for 6 weeks in Houston with Hurricane Ike. Several other times w/o power. The latest in 2021 with the TX freeze for 36 hrs. .......Not to mention the questionable impact of EMF radiation on children from a full length cabin battery. Pure Hybrids and Hybrids are more of an option. At this time, I just want an ICE in my 911. Once they get the the weight distribution correct in a hybrid, we shall see. But I know the wife will say No if they cut down her luggage space.
