992.2

I have come across a few articles / spy shots / videos of the potential 992 in prototype form . Although this video hints at base.. S and GTS all returning to NA status others only pose the idea of just a base limited car that's NA . If true it c contradicts the original idea of the 8 speed developed for a hybrid .

I have mixed feelings on both . Theres no way Porsche will put a Cayman Gt4 engine in a 992 so an NA would have to be either something new or a detuned Gt3 engine . If driven alongside a GTS on the street it really takes a wide open road to make a Gt3 feel faster . The short sprints lean on the GTS making it the better all around car. A hybrid would be met with huge criticism but one strength would be instant throttle response. All those future Carwow vids would show a Turbo S destroying the Tesla .

The obsession with NA engines clearly is the wailing flat 6 sound and precision. It takes a lot of money (in a Gt3 ) to not be much faster than a Carrera S on the street. It now way will be the Gt3 of today .

Visually the rear deckled is beautiful IMO and the front fascia looked cleaned up.

Of course I could ponder the unimaginable . That would be one variant in NA form on top of the GT cars , several remaining in turbo form , and several introducing hybrids . As if its not hard enough with all the variants and long options lists. A larger engine selection choice could become the new thing in my wishful mind .

Thoughts ? PS. They all say "2024" but I am thinking 25.

I found this. Now you have to explian it to me! LOL!

Our geeks at Porsche will figure it out for us!

Lol. I tried google translate but I couldn’t find tech-talk to doc-talk as an option. 😄

That article makes it sound possible. My initial thought was torque limits.

This article suggests 450 hp/440 ft.lb as a limit. I’m sure the smart guys at Porsche could push those a bit higher if needed.

Warning. This article may be offensive to some.

totally offensive! I think they are not addressing the “fun factor” of a manual though. It’s like golf, I suck at it and its no fun while others play every day.

You engineers always have to understand everything. Bobby and I just want to have FUN! Top down with a stick. :)

They're right and I salute Porsche for keeping the manual just a little bit longer. Soon it'll be all EV and no clutch, including my wheelchair! 😅

Lol. I hadn’t thought about that. I guess our last set of wheels will be an EV no matter how hard we fight it.

Let's enjoy the moment while we can still get in and out of a 911! 😅

I should say in and out of a 992.2 if I want to stay ON TOPIC! :p

Just read this article, and I can translate for both engineers and docs...it's BS! Totally ignores the incredible fun and enjoyment of rowing your own gears! It's not all about 0-60's. Yeah, power/torque blah blah blah...faster blah blah, and high tech blah blah...that's what I hear, kinda like white noise! And to keep on topic I really can't warm up to the front grill of that 992.2 prototype, rear is ok, but think those vents on the rear resemble a VW Beetle! Glad my 992.1 T is coming. Ok, done my rant.

Exactly! I could care LESS about 0-60 I just like to shift. It’s a fun control thing!

Apparently Porsche have already figured it out. Carrera sport classic. 540hp. 440 ft-lb with MT.

I like the nostalgic movie Porsche attached to that.

I am not a fan of the sport classic . I dont like mixing modern and classic aesthetics . I also don't like the idea of a 3.8 turbo manual . Not a fan of the ducktail ether . Just a hard no from me.

There is a lot going on there for sure.

I agree. Sure, it looks good and some will be lining up to buy it but it seems to me that with that list price the thing that was "engineered in" was a pretty good profit margin. I will be happy with my lowly 'T'.

Duck and Whale mag just posted a video on 992.2. They say no NA motor on Carrera (low-end torque would suffer), hybrid motor will go to Turbo S first, and dash is going full Taycan / 2024 Mustang, with flat panel and no analog tach.

Fact or rumour?
Fact or rumour?
Sounds very likely. Hybrid for the higher end Turbo S and digital instrument cluster for all models. Evolution…
