992 c4s daily driver build

Background currently own a 997.2 C4S cab PDK and a 2018 Macan GTS (and an Escalade ESV). Looking to trade in the 997.2 for a new 992. Had originally planned to buy a used 992.1 when the 992.2s came out at a discount but then all hell broke loose in the world and long story short I have a June 2023 allocation for a new C4S cab. I realize the 4 & cab are a somewhat odd combo but I really enjoy the top down in good weather and then having the AWD for the bad weather so it works for me. I do use winter tires/wheels from roughly Thanksgiving to Easter.

This isn't literally a daily driver as I take one of the SUVs when I have SUV appropriate errands to run before or after work & I also drive them when I expect salt to be on the road but I drive it most days 35-50 miles round trip depending on the route. Financially I make enough money I can buy what I want but I haven't been making it long enough to be financially independent... so cost isn't a HUGE factor but its not irrelevant either.

Working build: PPA1ZWD1

Points of contention:

Seats
1) Currently selected sport-tex with chalk stitching and chalk seat belts. It's a little monochrome but the seat belts and different pattern break it up some. Been kind of obsessed with fabric center seats and this option doesn't break the bank. Thinking of adding the white tach + white SC dial but almost $1k between the two seems like a lot to ask for these seemingly minor changes. Can't get this with the 14 ways so looking at paying up for 18 ways.

2) Either the black/beige or slate grey/chalk two tone leather interior with deviated seat centers using the darker color. I'd be able to get the premium package with this one which offers a little savings, don't need to pay separately for the seat belts, and would probably spec the 14 way seats rather than 18 way.

3) Heritage tan/pepita. I really love this look but its another ~$10k and to be honest I showed it to a few friends and 2/3 of my children (10 and 9 yo so whatever their opinion is worth) and none of them really liked it even without knowing how much more $$$ it was.

Exterior
Blue roof or black roof (with Gentian Blue exterior)?

Performance
Sport Chrono only vs Sport Package. I'm pretty sure a GTS would be too stiff for my liking as a DD but I'm not sure about the SPASM on the S as it looks to be about halfway between the GTS and regular PASM. Sports exhaust I could take or leave it, would use it sometimes but probably leave it off most of the time. Have it on the Macan GTS and I'll turn it on if I remember and I feel like I'm not in a place where it's going to annoy people. My 997.2 doesn't have PSE or SPASM which hasn't bothered me at all but may be a case of I don't know what I'm missing? Going to try to drive a S with SPASM.

Interior
I think I'm fine with the basic interior trim, but is this maybe not the place to cut corners?

dealer had a few used 992s available and was able to drive a 4s with sport package. Drove it in some stop and go evening city traffic and over some crappy roads. It was fine comfort wise and PSE wasn’t obnoxious when on. I’d probably take the 14 ways especially considering they are cheaper but the 18s were fine (and do look better). the 14s aren’t an option with sport-tex or heritage though.

i think i’m sold on heritage at this point, got a few people at rennlist who actually have it to post pics and impressions. if i were to get leather seat backs, colored dials, and upgraded trim it’s “only” 5k more.

Updated code The Porsche Code

one last dumb detail is the model designation on back. was thinking of doing it in exterior color so it’s still there but more subtle.

Love the build DrB!

Money aside, it’s just gorgeous! I love it with Gentian Blue but I’m biased since I chose the same color and wheels (pics above). I didn’t change the model designation because I thought silver went well with the combo and at that price I wished to have as many letters of the alphabet I could. 🤪

Good job! That’s a doctor’s 911!😉

Model designation is a tremendous amount of words. It is not only a pain to clean but it’s overkill. The simple “ 911” is sufficient. On gentian I would just leave it in the chrome. I would do the same for black or many other dark colors. I have it on the GT silver in the satin black, which is standard for the GTS. You are heading in the direction of the car that I built. I knew you would come along to the heritage package. When do you lock?

I'm showing you the latest boat schedule against my better judgement because it mostly shows how many boats come and go while your car remains in the heavily backed up Emden port! 😡 It's frustrating until you catch a ride across the ocean, but then becomes fun to watch the progress. Hope you get the next ship.

I was trying to find reasons (less vessels, increased production, etc) for that backlog at Emden when I found this pic on RL! 🤪

Thats gonna be me later today after I finish my yard work.
i didn’t know the port situation was still bad, the estimated timeline on the order tracker seemed pretty optimistic. we’re away for like half of july anyway…

ordered some nearly new turbo wheels+winter tires at a heavy discount off ebay today so can stare at them and maybe roll them around the driveway some to pass the time.
