992 GTS day 1 impressions

I posted this on Rennlist . Some of it was thanking them as I struggled with colors in the ordering phase . Much of it I have talked about here .

I picked up my car on Friday and it went straight to PPF . I got it back today and went driving . Here are my first brief impressions .

1) On Friday I asked about my suspension . I gave the tire pressure by memory and was wrong . They were overfilled . Thats solved .
2) Normal mode is almost like sport mode in previous Porsches . Its not quite as aggressive but it finally isn't total boredom .
3) Sport mode really ups the ante . It lets the driver know not just that its ready but that is eager !! I really like that !!
4) With the lightweight package suspension and handling is sublime . It came with Goodyears and I know some here like them . They are acceptable or maybe its the car being that good !! It blows away my 991.2 GTS and I haven't even nailed it hard yet (break in ) .
5) That lightweight package has the glass where it keeps the ambient noise out and retains the engine sound . Its freaking incredible !!
6) PCCB - Yikes !! I only had one car before it back in 2005 and they have come very far. I also have Brembo BBK on my 997.1tt . They are different . PCCB takes this car down better . I actually had to slam them once .
7) Technology - I skip most of it but the two things I feel I need (phone and sat radio) I have with ease . I am all good .
8) The Comfort settings - I am very old school but Im am giving it a whirl (soft close doors .. etc)

I have less than 50 miles on the car . I have to get those stickers off my visors .I got home just in time to see city construction first the first time ever . Thats why I had to slam my brakes . A worker had his truck parked in the street and as I slowly moved alongside it he through a giant hose from the other side that almost hit my car . I stopped in time . It dangled in front of me . He looked at me . I looked at him . He's digging up my entire block . Its going in the garage when he's here .
I wish the GTS came with Race Tex roof liner . It was standard last car . I even have it on my Macan Turbo.

Gt silver was a great choice and I am so glad that you guys posted all those pictures on the many picture threads . The truth is the car looks great in any color but this is working for me . I am glad I did the carbon roof .
I love the car already and am still learning it .

This car purchase and experience has been exhausting . When rested and more time I will write a formal review. I felt compelled just jot down the thoughts as they popped in my head above. If it sounded unclear it’s because it’s so emotional from start to the point I am now. I get behind the wheel of this car and I nearly have to pinch myself that really came to fruition. There were so many hurdles it is the experience of driving it starts it makes more sense why I kept going. I put my deposit 11 months ago. Now starts the next chapter.

So glad you are finally enjoying your car! I'm currently on vessel and hope to land soon and also hopefully not get held up in port too long (Davisville) then still need to courier to me here in Los Angeles!
Question: are you happy with the overall exhaust sound? Although my purchase (as many here have been I'm sure) with 992 GTS was without test drive, I'm contemplating aftermarket 200-cell sport cats for more of that turbo spool sound along with a bit deeper throatier sound. What are your overall impressions on that?
I am so happy for you! Congratulations!!!
Please keep these comments coming and pictures coming.

Unfortunately for me I was pushed to 7th on the list for the 911 GTS. I don't even know how that is possible given that I started at 5th.

I only have 58 miles so far but I wanted to note every detail as I learned the car. I will eventually write a review . It is extremely hard to get a car these days . Its even worse than when Covid hit . The wiring harness comes out of Ukraine . These are not easy times .

An aftermarket exhaust will always give choices to pick the ideal sound . I am content with it and don't plan to modify the car .
Two names come top mind .
1) Kline

2) Akrapovic

I lean towards Kline .
Larry, great review and glad you are enjoying the 911. I put a bunch more gentle miles on mine yesterday and still pinching myself. Just crazy fast and responsive and GT Silver NEVER looks dirty even after a long drive. That hose almost hitting your car would have sucked!

@BobbyG - I am also holding back (even moreso than in the past) . I realize the car is irreplaceable so I am pampering it awhile as I learn it.

Hose hitting car? 😱 What’d I Miss?

Ok, got it!!! Yeah, it would've been TERRIBLE!!!

There is some sort of project that began in my neighborhood where a worker crew is digging up the ground and putting in cables . They have been reckless and I had my garage cleared out as of today and my new car is tucked away safe until they are done . I have driven it for a few days and love it but for now I am back in a Macan loaner I have while my other 911 is in service . I have no idea how long this will last but they are working quickly. My neighbors look livid . They are house people so the idea of someone tearing their lawn must freak them out . I am not a house person but my car is my everything . I do care about my house but I am not like most here who can't even handle if a possum tiptoes on their lawn at 4 AM . This ranks up there with a hurricane. It really sucks !!

Question: I have mine coming in a couple of weeks and wondering what you have done for break in? Have you tried launch control? Curious to know you're approach here, thanks!

I ordered the manual so it doesn’t apply. I’m conservative so I was directed keep RPM’s under 4K for the first 2000 miles which I have been doing….not easy but I’ve been mostly compliant. I have 1300 miles on her so I’m getting close!

Thanks Bobby, beautiful car and glad you're getting some great weather to enjoy!
Did your car come into Davesville? If so, about how long did it wait for port processing? (where I'm currently holding).

Thank you Winger, my car arrived in Baltimore but seemed like forever after that…about another 10 days after it arrived. What’s the arrival date at dealer?
Car landed in port yesterday, TYD shows arrival at dealer 120 miles away in NY on 5/6/22. This wait is much harder than expected! I then will have to struggle the 7-10 days for carrier to me here in Los Angeles.

The wait is difficult for sure but hang in there. Mine arrived a few days early but with set up and PPF install I went to see it prior to pick up. It’s worth the wait!
That's awesome you got a little early. I too will be doing full PPF and exhaust but I know the end reward will be endless!
What are your thoughts on window tint? I'm on the fence here.

Never liked tint so its a NEVER for me. I’m in Pa so not as warm as LA though. I could never see that well in cars that had tinted windows.
