992 Technology Issues

I picked up my 992 six weeks ago and have encountered some issues/glitches, all of which seem to be technology related. Has anyone else seen this with their 992?

1. Door handles do not always pop out when touched while the key is in a pocket. It only works about 50% of the time.

2. Thumb/hand does not always lock the doors when the handle indent is touched. It only works about 50% of the time.

3. Fronk does not always open when waving or rubbing a hand over the hood badge and/or above the latch area. It only works about 50% of the time.

- These three issues occur with either key in my pocket.
- The dealer suggested checking the battery in the keys and checking the antenna system that receives the signal.

4. The passenger mirror rotates UP when in reverse. This may just be a manual adjustment to reposition the mirror glass.

5. Homelink - GPS location programmed in the driveway does not always work to pop up the Homelink on the screen when pulling into the driveway. It only works about 50% of the time.

6. The speed limit sign display on the instrument panel sometimes freezes and doesn’t update. I recently drove from a 60 mph zone to a 40 mph zone to a 30 mph zone and the display continued to show 60 mph. Even after stopping and exiting the car, when I started it again after about 5-10 minutes 60 mph was still displayed.

If your dealer is looking into this (which I assume), what progress have they made so far? Curious to know since its been a week this this post.

Someone I know with a 4S has the same door issue.
Thanks for your reply. I have mentioned these issues to the dealer and will probably wait another month or so before taking it in. I want a little more time to evaluate to see if there is a pattern of cause and effect.
I have noticed the same with the door handles/ locking and the mirrors, but didn’t know the fronk opened with a hand wave, and have not had success even programming the homelink.
For the Homelink, I had to call 1.800.PORSCHE and have them walk me through it. Once it is set up, it is linked to GPS positioning and the Homelink button pops up automatically on the screen when you approach your driveway. All you have to do is touch the screen and the garage door opens. (This also only works about 50% of the time). I have the Homelink set on the programmable key on the steering wheel so I can press that key also and the Homelink button pops up on the screen.

I don't really love technology...
I found the "sweet spot" to wave over and open the frunk but the doors still do not lock with a touch.

I have the same issues with my 992. I have had it back to the dealer 3x. They say my cell phone interferes with the signal. Than the factory rep came to my home to reprogram the system and he told me that Porsche had the door release programed to have a 30 minute delay for security reasons that he couldn't explain. I have he same homelink problem and they reprogrammed that function so most of the time it recognizes my driveway but the window prompts keep changing. I gave up and put my $ 5.00 door opener on the sun visor because getting out of the garage and having to change the window 3x is a pain.

I've had my 992 to 3 weeks now and I've noticed the door handle sensitivity issue as well as the Homelink performance as well.

Hi guys, just found this thread while trying to fix the door handle issue described here on my 992. I have this issue from day 1, already once in service and not fixed..dealer took the classical stance "it works for us" ...curious if you found a solution. I had the mirror issue as well and it was fixed by dealer by some set up steps.

Thank you
Bogdan

As you may know I started this discussion. I can only talk about the door locks and the Homelink, so here goes. My 2020 992 CS has all spent a total of 23 days at my local dealer. The most recent 14 day visit included a complete reboot of the computer , a new battery, a new set of keys, a new door control unit and replacement of both door locks. I was having a meeting with the General Manager when they brought me my "new" keys and gave me a 4 page description of all the work that was completed. I asked him to meet me outside where I handed him the keys and asked him to open the door (OOPS!).
These problems are inherent to the car, and I don't believe Porsche knows how to fix it I gave up with the Homelink which works when you come home but can"t be access when you back out without having to go thru multiple steps on the home screen. Bought and extra garage door opener and stuck it on my visor.
They agreed to take the car back and I am now driving a 2020 Panamera Grand Tourismo GTS (and everything works).

Thank you Ivan. In my case they gave a 10 min speech of how doors handles not opening for a keyless entry is actually the way it should work - ie: if too many interferences the mechanism will not open to ensure protection against unauthorised entry - annoying especially at this price point. Agree with you they have no idea how to fix it. B
First I was told it was my cell phone interfering with the signal. Than it was the car had a built in delay of 30 minutes, then the key batteries were not good, than the keys were not good. Truth be told I found the car to be disappointing at best. The Panamara GTS I now have out shines the 911 in handling and road ability. I do miss some of the 911 tech features, but there was just to much drama with the car. $130,000 and you have to put a plastic garage door opener on the sun visor to close the garage door. Shame on you PORSCHE.
Any one want to but my "Ultimate Driving Machine" 992 polo shirt Euro XXXL Worn once and dry cleaned.

I share the frustration. I got the phone story as well and lots of invites for software updates. While interferences may make sense, at this price point one needs a better system :). I have fun with it but disappointed because I got back to Porsche for quality after some bad experience with Maserati. Will check a P GTS - tx for tip. European dealers are not very flexible changing cars.
I have the same issues with the door handles, they work "most" of the time but never when you have you hands full which is most inconvenient.
I also have issues with the PCM, I live in an area with bad Cell Coverage, this means that the PCM cannot connect when I start the car and always prompts for a new ID number.. I have basically stopped using it and just use Apple Car Play. Overall I am not impressed with the Technology but I do love driving the car.

Hello, I have a 2020CS4 (Chalk over Graphite Blue) and have the same exact technical issues. I Haven't brought the car into my dealership yet for service, so just been dealing with the Door handles/Thumb print/Front not working all the time. I truly love the Car its amazing. Curious to see what your dealer says about the issues. Thanks.

I have owned my 992S for a year now and I have noticed that the door and frunk opening problems only occur with my heavily loaded keyring. I think all the metal may be blocking the rf signal. When I use my other fob (on a lanyard by itself) the locks work about 97-98% of the time.

I tried opening the doors without my Cell phone on my person. Doors opened 10 times in a row. Not one issue. Grab me cell, put it in my pocket. Doors wouldn’t open. Only 3 out 10 times. Like WTF!

That’s a mess…mine arrives this Friday so keeping my fingers crossed.
