No GTS here but 992 Carrera S but I’m curious about it.
No GTS here but 992 Carrera S but I’m curious about it.In love with my GTS coupe but convinced (after a full track day) that an APR tune won’t upset the balance at all. Who here has been using an APR tune for a while?
When you tune a car, there are some that are undetectable, but there are others which flash the ECU. I stopped modifying my car after my 997.2. I loved my modded cars but always took a big hit in trade .That’s a question for @yrralis1
Yeah I believe you and I end up with the same power after the tune. The CS was de tuned from the original boost levels that the GTS stayed at… but I lose that gain over a CS as they’re both tuned to the same spec with aftermarket. I have APR Plus on my RS6 with 20k blissful miles and several track days. Zero regrets. No GTS here but 992 Carrera S but I’m curious about it.
You can always remove the tune if you find the perfection dampened though! When you tune a car, there are some that are undetectable, but there are others which flash the ECU. I stopped modifying my car after my 997.2. I loved my modded cars but always took a big hit in trade .
The competition for tuning is enormous. There are many tuners, who have survived the test of time, but there are some new ones that I have not really looked into. I see that sharkwerks has a tech art power kit. I have no experience, but I know Alex posted many years ago did meticulous work on his cars at the shop.https://www.sharkwerks.com/software-tuning/p184841-techart-techtronic-power-kit-for-992-carrera-s
Personally, I think the car is just beautiful right out of the box and it cost so much money to buy. Plus the weight is so long. I’m not ready to mess with perfection.
if it’s a piggyback system, or if it’s one there, you write your own tune, and can adjust it then yes. However, a software flash is permanent my 997 turbo that I still have no has a software flash, but all the parts were changed as well. Don’t get me wrong it’s possible to take a car to a new level. It’s just that I would want the starting point to be a turbo S.You can always remove the tune if you find the perfection dampened though!
Sure I get starting with a turbo S for sure- but I’m quite partial to RWD on track.if it’s a piggyback system, or if it’s one there, you write your own tune, and can adjust it then yes. The company that has blown everything away is ES motors. They just recently released the 992 version but there’s no drag slips that I could fine yet. They went under eight seconds with the 991 here’s a sample run that I quickly found I don’t have time to search for more at the moment.
Sounds cool!Hey,
I just picked up a GTS with 3800 miles, ordered a 91 octane tune (about 54 RWP) from M-Engineering, Charles used to work for Porsche and write programs.
They send a tune through their app you download on your laptop.
they claim their tunes can be returned to stock and the dealer won’t detect them as they are not piggy backed.
they will provide a personal tune for your VIN and add customizable features You can choose.
depending on the octane of the fuel you can or choose to run they will add several levels of HP/Torque that you can download to your car with the option of changing at will Up to about 150 RWP
they also offer “data logging”, where you can make runs or pulls in your car and send the log to them and they will read and make any adjustments needed through the M-Engineering app that would now be on your laptop.
they typically respond within 24 hrs. There is a very long thread on Rennlist where Charles regularly responds.
Charles personally followed up with me within 48 hrs of one of his tech’s sending me my tune asking what I thought and how it went, I responded late at night and he came back first thing in the morning answering all my questions.
check ‘Em out,
I would highly recommend .
My friend/neighbor who just purchased the Turbo S is really up on this stuff. One of the most important things is hiding it from the dealer.Indeed! These cars seem to have a lot of room for tune ability and having guys that are excellent at responding to any changes or concerns “after“ the purchase is super nice.
the data logging feature also helps them to see/know exactly what your car is doing…..it like having a crew in your back pocket! Kinda like you guys! 😆😇
