New to the forums and wanted to see what peoples opinions are for ceramic coating vs. wrapping, sorry if this was already discussed.

I am anal in many ways but not in the direction some of you here go. I skipped the ceramic. Not sure if I truly care how the water sheds from the car nor how shiny it stays. If I personally wash my cars…..that means I am bored😝 never!! In my wife’s office building there is a car wash. Older married couple that run the show. She does insides, he outsides. They do a great job. I would never ask them to use specific product on my cars….that would confuse the crap out of them….😝. Every few weeks, while on her way to work she will decide which car needs a wash, and she will take that one.

I had PPF on last 2 Porches and its amazing for protecting your paint.I just had ceramic coating done last week and will keep your car so much cleaner. I don’t wash my cars I just use a spray detailer. So much easier and quicker.

Bobby,
You will get a kink in your neck watching tv in your garage. It should be facing the 992 so you will not strain your neck while while reclined in your driver’s seat😜

Hey now! Most of the time I’m staring at that damn car and not the TV!

Ceramic makes washing and having a spotless car a breeze. It particularly lights up a black car and I would actually call it imperative for a black car . Basically what it does is the paint correction process is a very careful super duper detail . Every swirl is sure to be addressed . Of course a new car is the best because it has less ipaint issues to address. After the car is corrected the ceramic is applied . It seals in the detail so that every tine the car its washed that amazing detail under the ceramic shows again . It even adds another layer of protection to bird poop which is notorious for staining paint. I started doing it in 2017 and am totally sold on it .

PPF goes under the ceramic . I had never done PPF until this latest 911 mostly because the rock and pebble situation in Miami is not bad unless one travels 95 in the rush hours . I also have a detailer who is great with little chips but I still did it on my 992 . In a place like where Bobby lives where there are winter potholes PPF is mandatory . I know a guy who got a chip driving his car home on the first day to meet his installer at his house ,

Here’s a vid I just posted elsewhere. I did ceramic on top of PPF for my 992.

In short, PPF will protect against stone chips so I think it’s a must for a 911 who seems to be chip magnet. The ceramic, like you will see in the video is like a permanent wax. And for the PPF, you don’t have to do the whole car but full hood, front bumper, mirrors and rocker panels at least.

Everybody has his personal opinion. Up to you to decide. I had done only ceramic before on my Macan and regretted it. So at least PPF for the 992.

Good points. Still for me the two cars up north both have PPF (mandatory) given the road conditions. No idea what product my car wash lady uses to wash my cars, I am afraid to ask. My 991.2 in Miami has neither and it only has one door ding so far. I get the shakes when my wife tells me she is going to the outlets…..taking the 95 then the 595😫

I found the spray detailer or « waterless » car wash great for the 992 with a little dust or very light dirt accumulation. It’s a fast way to clean between washes. But when dust is mixed with rain a couple of times like last week in MTL, it’s faster to wash my 992. And I use Nick Murray’s suggestion for the wash and rapid dry towel. Here’s the video. I get 5%! 😉🤪

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts. This has been very helpful. I have a black 2021 RR sport HST that I ceramic coated and have a ton of chips on my front, mainly highway driving in Long Island. I think I def will need to ppf the 992 GTS when it comes. This forum is great I am going to post a another thread about what cars people have besides the 992.

Bottom line, PPF mandatory especially with our weather and road conditions up North. And ceramic on top if you’re like Bobby and me and like to stare at your car instead of watching the TV on the garage wall. Or doing anything else for that matter. LOL!

Went out last night and noticed how the car changed color from the time we arrived in full sun and when we came back later in the evening. It definitely had a purple note which I like very much but that would scare lots of people away, starting with Larry! LOL!

So, it’s not for those who want their car to look the same 24/7 in any light or weather conditions. It’s for those who like to live dangerously wondering how will their 992 look today? 🤪

Ok! Ok! Looks easy enough to do…even for me. But if everybody changes to the clear side markers, my 992 will be unique and worth so much more. 😂

Bulk of the 911s still wear the amber ones. I pay attention to little stupid things when I am driving/walking/cycling….

My SA threw them in on the deal.
