New to the forums and wanted to see what peoples opinions are for ceramic coating vs. wrapping, sorry if this was already discussed.

Came back from a Blue Ridge Mountain jaunt Tuesday (up to 1200 miles-800 to go) and had a few bugsplats and some brake dust. Hosed it off and blew dry, good as new and easy peazy. That ceramic is some slick stuff!!!! Lovin the ride and still learning stuff. Next objective is how to switch between Apple Car Play voice+maps and gps+voice. Lost internet in mountains and tried to switch to GPS while navigating switchbacks and the PCM gave me the finger. Response to voice was siri needs internet…..ARG!! Project after that is find magic sequence (or chant) that successfully connects CTEK charger to footwell. Plug in, turn on, have bourbon, turn off lock, have bourbon, wait is NOT the winning ticket…..

Thanks, after 3/4 different random attempts the other night i got it to work but it was dumb luck. Seems like locking it helped but who knows. At any rate it is now happily in maintenance mode and I printed the instructions you provided for future reference. Gratzi!

That's good to hear...totally different than charging my previous 981, weird. I always enjoyed black for my bikes just not my cars. Ride safe!

So you guys have the same color combo 992 cab AND you both drive Harley’s. Does @BDT sing and play guitar? 😅

If he does he’s the total package!

Nice!
My 992 so far spent 18 days without starting and without trickle. No issue firing up. Is there a way to disconnect the gps and total onboard computer but without disconnecting the battery?

I just did my first “BOOST” application and even in bad lighting it looks wet!

Nice scooter! Guessing Boost is some kind of ceramic tune-up? i neither sing or play guitar and therefore, am not the total package

I’m sure the total package reference still applies. However, Opti-Coat suggests a monthly optional “Boost” to enhance the glossy look. Think of it like a wax instead of a spray detail….amazing stuff!

Should we have ordered the side skirts…having second thoughts.

Do you mean these or PPF on side skirts? So far as I know, my skirts have PPF. So far as the option below, I don't see much of a difference.

Not the PPF the sport side skirt option. It’s just a subtle difference so maybe I don’t need it!

I kinda prefer the less is more design. I know a number of folk favor the aero tech (?) wings/slats/louvers/ which I don't think are really functional below triple digits. I personally think they are garish-see a lot of older Honda civics with large rear wings.

I hear you….good point.
I had PPF on last 2 Porches and its amazing for protecting your paint.I just had ceramic coating done last week and will keep your car so much cleaner. I don’t wash my cars I just use a spray detailer. So much easier and quicker. View attachment 1029

Are you saying that one of the benefits of ceramic coating is not having to wash your car as often (or at all)? If that is true, it might make sense from a cost/benefit perspective. How long does it last?
P
Bottom line, PPF mandatory especially with our weather and road conditions up North. And ceramic on top if you’re like Bobby and me and like to stare at your car instead of watching the TV on the garage wall. Or doing anything else for that matter. LOL!

So, I assume you would recommend ceramic on top of PPF? What is the approximate cost? Thanks.

That’s what I did although I didn't get the full wrap for the PPF. @BobbyG might give you a more accurate cost since I had the ceramic coating included in the contract. Unfortunately, the dealer seems to have used a lesser quality product. 😏 That’s what I was told by my detailing guy. I have posted this video elsewhere. It’s good info.

Thanks for the insight. I did a little research and looks like there are different levels of ceramic coating quality and you will pay more if you want it to last longer. I think doing it when the car is new is best since paint should be theoretically flawless (unless it gets chipped on the way to the installer!). I need to stay off of this board because my wallet continues to get lighter ever since I joined this forum.

I think PPF is a must. If not a full wrap, at least full hood, mirrors, front bumper, fenders and rocker panels. Ceramic coating is like a permanent wax. I still wash my car regularly and sometimes use Bobby’s « dry wash » spray in between.

Your dealer will try to empty your wallet even more on delivery with lots of other offers like tire and wheel protection plan, etc.. Just say no thanks!
