Are you saying that one of the benefits of ceramic coating is not having to wash your car as often (or at all)? If that is true, it might make sense from a cost/benefit perspective. How long does it last?
I was told it varies on the coating you choose. In my case I used Opti Coat and I think its 5-7 years. I usually hold onto a car about that long. You can literally take a hose, spray of your car and whip out the leaf blower to dry it and then your done….even the rims. The coating somehow repels the dirt and dust.

In my limited experience, ceramic does not eliminate the need to wash, it just makes it sooo much easier. Bride and I went for a nice long ride last week and had several kamakazie bug hits on front end. Rinsed bug splats off with garden hose and blew dry with cordless blower. clean as a whistle with no soap, rags or rubbing. Ditto with brake dust. My installer said the less you touch the paint, the better.

Exactly! This is my first time having my car ceramic coated after a lot of research….glad I did and I’m sold!

Thanks for the insight. I did a little research and looks like there are different levels of ceramic coating quality and you will pay more if you want it to last longer. I think doing it when the car is new is best since paint should be theoretically flawless (unless it gets chipped on the way to the installer!). I need to stay off of this board because my wallet continues to get lighter ever since I joined this forum.
Ceramic coating is a must over your PPF, even if a hydrophobic PPF (STEK Dyno Shield / Suntek Reaction / XPEL Ultimate Fusion). The water will just bead off and utilizing detailing spray is a snap. Unfortunately the products make a difference and the Dealer stuff if done internally is poor. An 3rd party ceramic coating should be approx $.8K to $1K. Ceramic Pro 9H is good stuff. I hated to spend the money, but for the 992 I went full body PPF. If you purchase XPEL, they provide an annual complimentary ceramic boost for up to 5 years.

Not quite those turbo flares but the factory 911 skirts compliment the body lines better IMO.
Yeah the flares are a bit too much.
Suncoast has these for order but I don’t know a good body shop that would be able to paint them. I’m sure there’s some around. I think I can live without it for now.

I also added these grill covers yesterday. I pulled rocks, leaves and other junk out of there and I’m happy with the result. 5 minutes to install and got them from Zunnsport.

I like them a lot. The openings on my macan are almost as big as on the 911 and stuff accumulates there for sure. Will look into this mod next spring

I was skeptical at first but they look like they belong there.
I see many cars with these protective screens. Not sure what Porsche engineering logic is…
One thing, upon closer examination of the fins on the macan, not one was damaged from any debris, so I dont know. Better safe though.

I had a ton of dents on both sides of the front radiators but I already have 8K on my baby. It’s my daily and makes sense for me. If they DIDN’T look as good as they do my vanity would have kicked in and I would have returned them!

My SA even agreed they look great and it should at LEAST be an option on the configurator.

I'm kinda OCD on this subject. Used to make pocket money cleaning cars as a kid so it's only got worse. Had ceramic on the previous car and it didn't stop stone Chips. On the 992 got it fully covered with Expel PPF. I figured I wanted the front and sides done as it was obviously going to get rash there. I then uncovered that for some maintenance the rear bumper would come off so that meant protection neededand is just about was the whole car by the time thats done. Wheels and calipers done in ceramic, and she gets washed with ceramic waxes.

Nothing beats PPF and CERAMIC. No washing just detail spray. Takes 20 minutes to detail. Love it!
