The 992 is set to be introduced later next month at the Los Angeles auto show. Somewhat untraditionally it will launch with the Carrera S and 4S coupes with a PDK only with other variants to follow. Early march is the expected arrival date for Europe and we should see it land on NA shores in the summer.

It's a good thing that we wont have to wait long for the reveal, because sometimes years go by between first concepts and production models. At least we'll get the opportunity to see what the response is like in Europe before the 992 makes its way here.

I like the fact that Porsche has been very public about its prototypes which is great because wit the reveal right around the corner it means we could see journalists behind the wheel. Porsche's new EV followed a similar path and there's the fact that its a 911... not much to hide.

to me it looks like these manufactures are trying to find different forms of getting the word out; they've ditched typical car shows for CES and a growing amount have been doing test drives similar to what you've seen. coming from an S2000, the new Supra has been on my watch list as a winter beater and test mules of it were driven by journo's

As they always take evolutionary steps in design, there was little point in camouflaging the changes for the 992 generation. I also think it was a smart way to generate discussion and interest online, prior to the official reveal.
