Hi Porsche fanatics!

My name is Max from 🇳🇱, I'm 33 years old and living close to the German Autobahn.
Last January I've order my first Porsche, after two BMW's I've now been fortunate enough to move over to my all time dream car! I've been lucky enough to get an production spot for 2023 GTS that will be delivered in September.

I've wanted a Porsche 911 since I was 7 years old. About four months ago I woke up in the morning and news article notification popped up on my screen. The European Union has come to an agreement that new built ICU's will be banned from the year 2035. This provided me the perfect argument for my wife to justify a depreciating investment. I went to the Porsche dealer in November for a second hand 992 C2S. During the price negotiation he called out that for the same price I could get a new Carrera T. That made me think, we agreed on meeting again in January. I had a financial good year last year so I decided to ramp the Carrera T up to an GTS as I wanted a little more power. This time I brought my wife so she could enjoy test drive too. When we walked back into the dealership after the testdrive she gave me the blessing to order my first 911.

This is my current build. But still in doubt about the exterior colour. I love the chalk gray, it makes the car just pop. The only thing I get irritated about is that it's a super popular colour in the car industry. Every brand from the VAG group is being delivered in some sort of tone of chalk. My next option is the aventurine green or going for a deep green from the PTS option.

Final doubt is option list:
  • To take Front Axle lift or not
  • To take Rear Axle steering or not

I'm visiting my Porsche dealer end of this month to finalize on the above.

Welcome Max and congratulations on being able to get your dream car at 33! I think I was driving a Honda Civic at that age! I think for a lot of us on this forum the dream of owning a 911 started from a very young age as it did for you but 7 years old may be a record! That is great that you can afford to live your dreams as we only live once. As for your choices, you will get a lot of differing opinions here so stick to what YOU want and love. Personally I love chalk and think it looks fantastic on a 911 (and considered it too) but some may think it looks like primer. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I also love that you accented with red gauges and belts. That was similar to my first spec for an S before i got the T and went with green lizard stitching. Don't worry about it being too "popular". I went with GT Silver because it is timeless even though silver is one of the most common colors out there. I think Aventurine is also a great option if you want to be a little different and would have considered had the T offered it. In any case you are on the right track but beware of the configurator, it can drive you mad!

Oh regarding the FAL if you're unsure then i'd probably lean towards getting it as you may need it and on the RAS, I really am not sure as I've never driven one with it but personally leaned without it as I like a more "natural" experience.

Hi Msx -
I bought my first 911 at 35 but it was much cheaper and my first had no options (could not even really afford the car ). . Its a very special moment and I must admit that 30 years and 20 Porsches later I still love that first 911 . There are things that I would add/ delete/suggest with yoir car but since you only asked about the color and FAL I will comment . My 992 GTS is GT silver but I just bought a Macan GTS in chalk . Its an interesting color that gets a lot of compliments .but I am not in love with it . My idea behind buying the color is that I wanted a change from the last 5 Macan's before it . It was the only color left for me.

The only thing about chalk that I will say is that I love how it looks with ANYTHING black or Carbon fiber . I dislike how it looks with red even thought it matches so much that I chose the option of painted calipers in black .

Colors are personal choices and thats all that I will share even though there is more . Here is a picture of my Macan with the black Calipers so you can see how it goes with chalk though . PS .. I have the clear markers but dealership has to install them .

If you want to see chalk on a 911 my friend Pete had a Gt3 Touring in Chalk . At 1 min 20 sec he shows the car next to a Carrara White and goes over the details .

Max,
Congratulations on the GTS 992! At your young age that is a huge accomplishment! This car looks incredible in ANY color so get what you want. I went with GT Silver/Red top because it was classic early Porsche. I wanted a sporty/classy look to my car. Great build and enjoy every mile on the Autobahn too!

GT silver with red is very different than chalk with red. Chalk is a flat paint and has rather shiny in texture. It’s actually a very good quality paint and noticeably different than the other flat paint which are free. It’s almost like an off-white. Somewhat like white with cognac added to it or somehow visually when I see it with red I just feel there’s a clash. It goes so amazingly with black Porsche made the GTS interior in chalk, and used that combination in the promo car. If you remember the coupe was Carmine and the Targa was chalk.

At the age of 7 a friend of the family came by our house with a 964 test drive. He took me around the block and fell in love. I know I'm very lucky to buy my first 911 at this age, worked my ass of. At the same time it's one of those decisions I couldn't postpone till my 50th's as the world is changing rapidly.

That lizard green is awesome too, I loved the look of it on the Carrera T.

Welcome to the forum Max. Nice build. Not my favorite colour (this colour is here today gone tomorrow). I have the lift, already used it once, handy to have on hilly terrain. Rear steering, I skipped that one, still not sure re the point of it. I went awd to get more grip on those tight corners😉

Hi and welcome!

I’ll echo what others already said regarding colour. It’s very personal which means you’ll have to decide. Or if you’re wise beyond your years you might let your wife make the final decision! 😀

FAL was a decision I also struggled with. I found the opinions on it were split which is not a big help. What were your previous cars? Are they as low as a 911 and have you scraped them? I had an M3 and RS5 which were comparable in height, and with some care and attention I never had problems so I finally left FAL off my build.

Congrats Max! GTS is an amazing first 911.

We just received our 911 Carrera 4S on 3/10...I am 36 and this is our first Porsche! Waited a bit to focus on our business and our homes; just personal priorities. Humbled, grateful and blessed, to say the least, being able to do this even at our age. (Needed my wife's blessing as well, obviously!) I did the same, took her in and had her test drive. She is very green and her daily is a Model X (Black with White Interior) so she went for the Taycan first, but when she test drove the 911...game over!

Ultimately decided on the Carrera White Metallic with Leather Interior in Black along with the Rear Axle Steering. With our build, the White and Black just flow seamlessly, looking sexy AF!

I was torn on the Front Axle Lift System as well because, as @KM992 stated, feedback is all over the place but ultimately decided against it because not much here in SoCal which require that high of ground clearance.

Color is very, very much a personal choice, for both exterior and interior, when it comes to a car as such.

Highly recommend you drive to other Porsche Dealers in your area, even out of area, to see and touch the colors you want...trust me, its a different high ;)

Welcome & Good Luck in which ever direction you choose to go in!
