Good price for 2021 Carrera 4S?

Looking at a 2021 Carrera 4S with 3K miles and a lot of options for $143K. Was going to wait until Spring 2023 and get a 992 S but seems like a decent deal from a owner I know. I would get a significant break on taxes and the car has been ppf’ed. Thoughts on waiting since I think the market may soften in 6 months or should I go for it now knowing I will probably not drive it much in the winter?

Welcome @Madwrstler. If this 992 ticks all the boxes, you know the owner and why he’s letting his car go so soon, then I would do the math. Are you paying over MSRP in order not to wait or is it really a good deal (in Canada we now have a luxury tax on new cars to consider)?

Some will prefer waiting for the upcoming mid-cycle refresh. But don’t think that the 992.2 will be all upside.

Curious to read what others think. Especially those still waiting for their allocation and maybe have considered buying CPO. Personally, I will never wait more than 1-2 years another time.

Winter is coming but in the spring that 992 will then cost you more (or be long gone).

All good points Charles, do you actually have an allocation spot at Porsche…made a deposit? PPF is a plus so if the car fits your need that’s fine but the market is getting softer now for sure. Is he a flipper?
This person is not a flipper. He is a very wealthy individual that just doesn’t drive the car since he spends most his time in Key West and has a home in Chicagoland. I have an allocation and build on a 2023 C2 that locks in several weeks. My C2 build is the same out the door cost as this C4S. Not sure how much the market will soften in 6 months and that is my dilemma. Do I wait until April 2023 and get a C2S (don’t really need a C4S) or is this a good enough deal to move on it now. Tough decisions:)

So you have an allocation AND a build date that will lock soon. And winter is coming so you won't be driving your car. I would wait and get the 992 you want. My 2 cents (CAD)

I see what you mean. I would say if you don’t mind the wait and you want to place your “stink” on it then wait but if this one is here and is well optioned….it’s good to have options. I know there are still issues with Bose and wiring harnesses so consider that.

My allocation is a C2 and this is a 2021 C24S for the same cost.

Tough one Mad Man.

My build went up significantly because of the Bose issues and the almost $6K more for the Burmester. That’s why I started looking at a good used S model since it basically is the same cost as my C2 build. Thanks for the feedback.

Just realized that you were comparing a base 992 with a 4S!

So you have a build date for a C2, may want a C2S but have an option for a C4S (with very little mileage) for the same price as the base. I think I changed my mind and would take the C4S.

Done deal!

Correct! My only thought is do I wait 6 months and try and pick up a used C2S (not C24S) if the market softens. I realize no one has a crystal ball but think prices may continue to drop and could get a low mileage CPO C2S for $130K.

For us will probably be worth more if you’re not planning on keeping it long. I think these dealers are getting out of hand with their prices so that’s really a tough call.

Definitely a tough decision. I had to decide on a 2023 C2 cab that would be brand new and customized to my own specs vs a CPO 992.1 C2S (coupe) for around the same price, but since it is my first 911 that I've dreamed about since I was a teenager, I had to go with my own build. It is such a personal decision!! Go with your gut.

This is my first at 911 also but there were not that many delay or parts issues at the time. Go with your gut.

It's your call but you know the saying, "one bird in your hand...." or one 911 in your garage....LOL! :p

I would get the car you really want. The worst thing a person can do is to buy the wrong car . If it’s a C2S Did I wouldn’t even buy the C2. I also am not a huge fan of all wheel drive unless I lived in a climate where I had to have it. It was even one of the detracting factors from buying a turbo I like the agility of a rear wheel drive 911.

I agree Larry but getting a C4S with 3K miles and already wrapped with PPF at the same price as a new C2 is very tempting. I would consider it seriously especially if I knew the owner.

It’s two model years older and used. Warranty has eroded as well. I’m sure it’s a beautiful car but it is two years old. PCM was also updated in 22.

Beyond all that it’s still an all-wheel-drive car. It won’t have that agile feel in the front steering despite having rear wheel bias. Although it’s a great car it’s not really the one he wants and at this price it should be.

You're absolutely right! (y) It is tempting though. LOL! 😂
