Thanks . I think most of 992 owners are 40 -80 but I still don't feel its an old man's car . I just feel at these prices it harder to pull together in the 23-39 age group . Granted there are exceptions . I remember once pulling up next to teen and he was driving a Carrera Gt . I figured it was either his dads car or a rental but it was in fact his personal car . I asked at the shop and they knew him . He was a pro driver so it can be done . In. the meantime I will thrive with all the other old guys who feel recycled with this vehicle. It is truly impressive .Looking good Larry! Both of you. 😉
I’m pushing 57 in a few months but looking good Pontiff!![]()
Not the oldest 992 owner!
I thought perhaps I was the only silly old man to buy a 992 at 70+ !!! Reading this forum I realise there are others as mad as myself…. My current car is one of the 997 Carrera Club Coupes (13 built) and I thought it would be fun to match it After considerable negotiation I have got Porsche to...www.992forum.com
You are too kind sir..enjoy your 4th responsibly! Most young people will say 57 is old but I think its just right . You look great with that 911 !! They keep us feeling like a recycled teenager with a lot more wisdom .
Welcome to the Forum @RMD and Congrats to the hardcore fan you are. Your 992 is beautiful. You will get along great with @yrralis1!I'm 66 and bought my first of eight 911s in 1987 at age 31 and have owned at least one of every generation since and on list for first 992.2 hybrid when available. As long as I am always driving the latest gen, I'm still "31 " in mind and spirit. A bonus is my being much more physically fit after retiring 8 years ago than I ever was during those decades of stressful work !

Turbo S, ME? Beyond the fact that I have no real interest in straight line acceleration, I could kill myself in one of those...if I could find one! That's why I needed you to explain why would someone modify a Turbo S in order to bump it up to 900HP like @Jeremy is doing. Like I said, fascinating but also very scary! You should ask Jeremy. Or @RMD ?You are up early . Thats what old people do ,
My first Porsche was 86 but not a 911 until 95. Compared to now they were a bargain . First 911 was 62K and I got it for 57 . It had no options , little wheels, manual seats. leatherette and basic color (white) . I loved that car !!!!
I have been talking with a friend about his Turbo S . Have you driven the new one ? I haven't .
That’s what I was thinking! We would all get one and wipe out half the forum due to wrapping our cars around a tree!!!Turbo S, ME? Its more than straight line. The 991.2 Turbo S was criticized immensely for being boring . Porsche decided to do something about it . They sent the car ti Flacht (next to the Weissach division) to face a complete overhaul by Porsche;s Gt department . The newbie that I am could never appreciate, understand or take advantage of such a « serious monster »! But YOU could. Its more than straight line. When I first read it I brushed it off as journalistic BS but one by one guys who bought the car have expressed a huge improvement and near Gt level performance . It can also squash just about every street - a hole who thinks they are fast . The new lightweight package car is near hypercard level Tested: 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S Lightweight Is a Near-Hypercar
This is a serious monster . My discussion with my friend focused on his argument that he enjoys the cab over the coupe and its just as fast . I call BS on him , He has owned both and bought the cab because he also has a Gt3 . He told me that on backroads his buddy with a gt3 beats him in his Gt3 but in his Turbo S he's holding back not to bump him . He expressed that the Cab has more chassis reinforcement than his former coupe and despite all the hoopla over the top it weighed less. when he weighed both cars . He did say that top up must be in speed tests . I told him that a cab is acab and if I got one I would want a lightweight coupe.
I spec'd one for kicks . 238K . I'd have to give up both cars . I don't know if I would hate the AWD . One can't defy that excess weight over the front axle . I also love my GTS . Porsche is having all types of shortages . The fact that I got a car with ceramics, Bose, and all the electronics is unheard of . I also love my car . I just cant help but have some curiosity . I didn't even drive re new car because I thought the old car 991.2 Turbo S sucked . When I ordered my car it was near Turbo price and I still had no interest . I also feel the GTS is more exclusive and is produced less years . Its a rare car .
I dont plan on doing it .. but as you can see I did spend time giving it thought.
I’ve always been a “stock” guy myself whether it was muscle cars or Porsches so I’m not messing with a good thing,The newbie that I am could never appreciate, understand or take advantage of such a « serious monster »! But YOU could.
So I feel like telling you to « ENJOY TODAY » but plan for tomorrow.
I think Larry was talking about the stock Turbo S! And how he had given it lots of thought before pulling the trigger of the 992 GTS. At least that’s what I understood.I’ve always been a “stock” guy myself whether it was muscle cars or Porsches so I’m not messing with a good thing,
