My wife’s Lexus has it. I am definitely in favor of this feature. Not taking eyes off the road improves safety !!!

I thought it was a gimmick until I owned a car with it. It should be in every vehicle because it helps keep drivers focused on the road.
Never had it so I don’t miss it. I would worry it could end up distracting me more.

I could see it in any other car but in the 911 all I need is that one round dial in the middle of the instrument cluster. But I’m probably the exception. Being able to get information, whatever the information, directly in front of you, above the dash, and not having to glance down to the screen is a driving feature that most appreciate.

in fact, I think HUD are the future for all cars, whether you find them useful, or not. Now, I don’t know how to vote. 🤪

P.S. I might not even need the tach as I shift by the sound of the engine

I absolutely HATE it !!!!!!! I was given a cayenne loaner with it and it drove me nuts !!! I had to shut it down every time at start up . It sits right in my view as a huge distraction . If it ever was a standard option In would seek a way to permanently disengage it.

With the the Lexus it’s as simple as scrolling it up or down the windshield - so you can move it out of your range of view. The Lexus HUD also posts the speed limit of the road u r driving on so u can easily check if u r exceeding the posted speed.

Happy to see I'm not the exception. But we're definitely the minority if you survey the Porsche community. Let's see how this poll goes....

P.S. If you can scroll it up or down, everybody is happy! :)

I have it in my 2023 Cayenne. I like it. You can raise or lower the position on the windshield and change the brightness too.

We might be seeing a generational split here where the young and hip are more tech savvy than the old dinosaurs? Some of them even drive MT. 😜😄 Just poking for fun.

The only info I used on HU was speed. It helps reaction time if you need to hit the brakes when you see the speed trap ahead.

Dinosaurs being almost extinct, I'm surprised at the poll results so far. Should be at least 3 votes for HUD. The OP, @audi4t and you. Did you vote?

Drove a couple of GM rentals that had it. I found it okay at best and a distraction at worst. It was somewhat useful to me for speed indication. On my Porsches, I just set the audible speed warning at the limit I desire which achieves the same purpose for me. Definitely not something I consider to be a need nor would I choose to option it. I'm not against it being available or standard so long as I can turn it off if I want. At 45, I don't think I would be considered to be quiet a dinosaur yet.

I voted no. I've never had it in my own vehicle but every car I've driven that had it, it seemed like a distraction to me. I generally know how fast I'm going. My personal idea of a Porsche is pure driving pleasure with fewer distractions, not tech devices. In a Lexus, maybe ok, but can take it or leave it.

I’m 31 and not a fan of useless tech in the car. I hate HUD’s with a passion, I find them distracting (my eyes need to refocus more switching between the road and HUD than the road and dials).

I have automatic parking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control…etc in my Macan and have left all these out of my upcoming 911 as I never used them. Only got lane change assist and the 360 camera.

I agree, too distracting, I felt like my eyes didn’t know where to look half the time.

Wow, thanks for making me feel like i'm 31 again! Btw, I'm not a fan of adaptive cruise either. My brother 2 years older loves it. I find myself sometimes slowing when i don't want to. I am very capable of passing some slow-poke and maintaining speed (or braking myself) rather than having the system do it for me and then realizing soon after that it reduced speed for me on it's own.
