Moving from mid-engine to a Carrera T

Hello all, this is my first post. I'm out of Northern Virginia. a 15-year Porsche owner (base Cayman in 2008, 718 Boxster S in 2017, wife drives a Macan) and member of PCA. I run our "drive and dine" touring group in Potomac Region, so I do spend a lot of time on the scenic mountain and hill roads of VA, MD, PA and WV. Once in a while we make it to the beach or the lighthouses of southern Maryland too,

As of last night, after about a 1 month wait, I received an allocation for a Carrera T, my first 911 (and a manual to boot) which is scheduled for production in the June-July period. I was advised it will be a "2024" model, so I'm wondering if the 992.2 upgrades are actually going to be classified as 2025, since there haven't been any unveilings of the .2's, which would have likely happened already, as opposed to the snowy preview pictures with disguises tacked onto the cars.

Still trying to get my arms around the fairly limited color options. (I have a feeling anything not black, white, silver, guards red or racing yellow will eventually become an $11,000 paint-to-sample.) It is definitely s crapshoot on what colors may be "in" or "out" for 2024 beyond the basic 4. Plus will Bose be available? Will there be interior options besides basic black checked Sport-Tex, gray stitching / pinstripes or green stitching / pinstripes? I have done a couple configs (OK more than a couple configs). Two of them have stripes (and all have door decal-delete) just so they pop a little more. I welcome your thoughts / any intelligence on what a "2024" model will be. Thanks all!

My bad about the quote. Your build is beautiful Larry. But someone could like lizard green stitching with gentian blue. Who are we to say otherwise. Just preference.

The racing yellow with red « everything » is another story. LOL!
It would come down to the gentian Vs chalk above . Both colors are not timeless . Chalk matches black and looks dynamite with the roof Its a bit pricey though .

Glad to see I’m not the only one quoting the wrong person. LOL! 🤪

Bobby, are you pulling the trigger on another 992?

Heck no! But life is unpredictable so what if my SA offers me a GTS or Turbo! Oh no! Not in the budget so no plans just looking forward to kissing the Popes ring.

I’ll be so nervous for the meeting I might buy new underwear!
So I go out for an afternoon and look what I miss! I still defend my gentian/black/lizard combo but to each his own. Can't wait to see what it looks like just won't be mine! Blue exterior with full tan interior has been around since the end of time, and we're only talking green accents here. Would I get it? Probably not, but imo it's not as crazy as the Ronald McDonald combo. As you know i went more traditional with GT Silver and mostly cause i love the color and silver on a 992 and of course the tradition. I don't care too much about re-sale. I think for a car to not be re-sellable especially a 992 you really have to mess up but yes i agree there are some disasters. Heck, I happen to think chalk looks great with red!

Well said! I still stop once in a while at the Golden Arches for a quick bite but not a fan of the Ronald mobile!

In your absence and as a fellow Canadian, I felt compelled to defend the lizard green stitching with GB (lol!). And it is always a renewed pleasure to remind Pontiff that others may have different opinions. 😉

Congrats on the allocation and welcome!

This post blew up quick ha! I'm biased to keeping it simple and sexy. Carrera White Metallic with Full Leather Black Interior is what I have with no door decals. No stripes either. Like I've said before, the configurator is a black hole; a never ending abys. However do take solace in that whatever you decide, its your baby. No wrong decision.

Now to your other point, whether it will be .2 MY24 or MY25, I believe it will still be .1 MY24 but thats just my own thought process. I'm sure others here have their own varying opinions.

Post your build when you are done and Good Luck!

The entire thread is about “opinions“. I don’t think anyone has to defend his opinion, because there is no right or wrong here .

The original opinion of blue and green was one of them. “Too much risk“ is another opinion about that choice. The time to be upfront about those opinions are before the person who is confused, makes his or her final choice. . He gets to see variety of thought.

Every color that I have suggested that I would pick, I myself have owned. Any color that I somewhat dismissed is a code that was not chosen by me. If you had chosen a blue and green car cause he would carry a little more weight than just recommending it based on the configurator .

I have stated that I have kept it simple with white, silver, and black. I took a chance with chalk on my Macan. Now that I have the car, I have mixed feelings about the color, but at the same time, would pick it over his combinations and choices. That is how I ended up in shock who is the only color outside of black, white or silver that I thought I could live with daily and on that site I still feel that way. My suggestions are based on the actual experience of owning the car.

Porsche offers many different colors and combinations, and each person will find the one that suits him most.

Now that I see the green again….I’m a fan! That Peacock sealed the deal, awesome!

I think Pandas are cute . The reason I didn't get white on my Macan is because with the large black fascia it would look like a panda .
I tend to be very conservative on color choices . Both the gentian and the green are somewhat of a departure . My feeling is that if picking one then make that the main event . Picking two and combining them is a bit much for me . In short if I picked the green then the exterior would be a conservative color . I have seen all three . white , Gt silver, and jet black with lizard . It works with all of them . If I picked gentian then I would tone down the interior . Keep mind that the Carrera T also has all the other exterior accents . OP deleted the graphics but gray mirrors and wheels still are accents
Congratulations on your Allocation. Great decision going with the MT. If you enjoy shifting, you will be in heaven with your 992. Big upgrade from my 718. Colors are a very personal choice. The GB was on my 718 and the color changed depending upon the sunlight. However, the black trim did not contrast well with GB. Good Luck and Safe Driving!

I never thought one single second about resale and don’t regret it. Unless you go crazy and get a Ronald McDonald or Superman combo, your car will be worth just as much when you want to sell it.
Oh man, so much for racing yellow with red seat belts and tach/chrono. (LOL). Or Guards Red with yellow belts/tach/chrono. Or Shark Blue / red seat belts / yellow tach / chrono. I guess I could always do Batmobile (black is always in style).
