Moving from mid-engine to a Carrera T

Hello all, this is my first post. I'm out of Northern Virginia. a 15-year Porsche owner (base Cayman in 2008, 718 Boxster S in 2017, wife drives a Macan) and member of PCA. I run our "drive and dine" touring group in Potomac Region, so I do spend a lot of time on the scenic mountain and hill roads of VA, MD, PA and WV. Once in a while we make it to the beach or the lighthouses of southern Maryland too,

As of last night, after about a 1 month wait, I received an allocation for a Carrera T, my first 911 (and a manual to boot) which is scheduled for production in the June-July period. I was advised it will be a "2024" model, so I'm wondering if the 992.2 upgrades are actually going to be classified as 2025, since there haven't been any unveilings of the .2's, which would have likely happened already, as opposed to the snowy preview pictures with disguises tacked onto the cars.

Still trying to get my arms around the fairly limited color options. (I have a feeling anything not black, white, silver, guards red or racing yellow will eventually become an $11,000 paint-to-sample.) It is definitely s crapshoot on what colors may be "in" or "out" for 2024 beyond the basic 4. Plus will Bose be available? Will there be interior options besides basic black checked Sport-Tex, gray stitching / pinstripes or green stitching / pinstripes? I have done a couple configs (OK more than a couple configs). Two of them have stripes (and all have door decal-delete) just so they pop a little more. I welcome your thoughts / any intelligence on what a "2024" model will be. Thanks all!

The deposit is in. Build date June. Color is Gentianblau View attachment 2490 View attachment 2491 View attachment 2492
Gentian with a manual, @CH61 will be happy. Don't worry, it's normal to think about changing things 18x before freeze date. Congrats.

Of course I'm happy and welcome @havinoviski to the GB "club"! But now I feel "responsible". Ha! No doubt about the color, it's beautiful, even in my humble garage with no exterior lighting (see pic). My only "reservation" would be about the inside trim in exterior color. 😅 Just preference...

Looks like that picture was taken in a studio with that lighting!

Thanks Bobby! No studio, just my iPhone.

That pic (and all the others) helped me go through the loooong winter without my baby! I could take it out of hibernation now since mandatory winter tires expired on march 15 here but the weather and the roads are just terrible. And we're still expecting more snow later today. :( Soon...

Here's the second pic of that "studio" shoot (just before storage)! LOL!

Awesome job on the garage Charles! I think with @BobbyG and others we should start a cool garage thread! But just wait....mine is an ongoing work in progress and I'm still working on the finishing touches as i like to do a lot of the work myself....almost like decorating a nursery before a newborn, my 992 baby isn't due to arrive until mid May so that's my target date....give me a couple of months!

Great idea Al! Maybe after the pics are posted we can make a coffee table book of the caves!

Rain? 🙄 This is a live pic 🤬 Just when everything had started to melt. Told you I couldn’t take the 992 out yet.

Oh no! We only had snow once this year maybe 3 inches. Very mild. More time to clean that beauty!

I feel your pain. Had 6+cm last night but thankfully it mostly melted today. Summer car season is right around the corner!

@KM992 Would you expect anything less from Prince Charles?! Those knobs are priceless!

I'm seriously impressed! Now I have garage envy for @BobbyG epoxy floor and now @CH61 took the sophistication level up a notch with a wine fridge. I'm going to have to do some dusting before I post a picture of my man hovel.

You MT guys (sometimes called dinosaurs) have been a bit vocal lately but I have to concede that those knobs are awesome and I don't know how the PDK team can compete. Lol. Maybe high tech laser engraved knobs with 0-60 times?

Now that’s a low blow! True but somehow insensitive. Team PDK also have a tiny lever! 🤪

LOL. So many rebuttals to this but they’re all going to put me on probation. 🙊

Getting back to knobs 😜….I found my design inspiration. Modern and stylish like a wine fridge. Charles will be first in line to buy some.

So I got the build date and it is for a 2024 (in June), meaning price is up $10k+ over the original configuration. Freeze date for the config 5/31. So with $2000 for PEC in ATL (instead of $600), I'm wondering to drop that, move to Guards Red ($840 less than Gentian Blue), drop ambient lighting ($580), and take $3420 off the price right there. Possibly swap in Bose if it's indeed available as it shows in the configurator. Saving grace is that the prices for the 718s went up even more than the 911s did. I will be selling my 718 Boxster S (2017) which is basically identical to the new ones still available until they go full EV. Not sure I will recoup the full amount of the 911 increase (or even close), but I could try halfway.
