Moving from mid-engine to a Carrera T

Hello all, this is my first post. I'm out of Northern Virginia. a 15-year Porsche owner (base Cayman in 2008, 718 Boxster S in 2017, wife drives a Macan) and member of PCA. I run our "drive and dine" touring group in Potomac Region, so I do spend a lot of time on the scenic mountain and hill roads of VA, MD, PA and WV. Once in a while we make it to the beach or the lighthouses of southern Maryland too,

As of last night, after about a 1 month wait, I received an allocation for a Carrera T, my first 911 (and a manual to boot) which is scheduled for production in the June-July period. I was advised it will be a "2024" model, so I'm wondering if the 992.2 upgrades are actually going to be classified as 2025, since there haven't been any unveilings of the .2's, which would have likely happened already, as opposed to the snowy preview pictures with disguises tacked onto the cars.

Still trying to get my arms around the fairly limited color options. (I have a feeling anything not black, white, silver, guards red or racing yellow will eventually become an $11,000 paint-to-sample.) It is definitely s crapshoot on what colors may be "in" or "out" for 2024 beyond the basic 4. Plus will Bose be available? Will there be interior options besides basic black checked Sport-Tex, gray stitching / pinstripes or green stitching / pinstripes? I have done a couple configs (OK more than a couple configs). Two of them have stripes (and all have door decal-delete) just so they pop a little more. I welcome your thoughts / any intelligence on what a "2024" model will be. Thanks all!

As I told @CH61 , I'm still in the "can't walk away without snapping a pic" phase.

That really shows how deep that blue is. It's hypnotic. Love it.

Very deep blue in the shade or on cloudy days. I love how it changes depending on the amount of sunlight. I feel like I have multiple cars in one car (color shades, top down/up, etc.).

REALLY windy yesterday but no tornadoes thankfully….only had a 2 minute blip of no power.
So to recap...I have a 2024 T build, currently Gentian Blue. I have about a month to revise the build if I so choose, the main changes now are adding Bose, changing red seat belts to shark blue, replacing ambient lighting with the crest / weapon on the armrest. Now that I have the item on my Porsche page (build date is now shown as 6/20 with PEC-ATL delivery shown as 8/16), I noticed a diffferent horsepower rating. Original was 379 hp, now it looks like they are rating the engine at 385 hp. I wonder if some changes to the engine between 2023 and 2024 model years?

The 385 hp rating is the Euro-version; it is still 379 hp or EEC vs. SAE. Horsepower Confusion and Resolution

Interesting, and equally interesting how Porsche seems to consistently outperform what the published hp would suggest.

So my current order is for Gentian Blue, but for a while I've kept an alternate config in yellow (because it looks nice in the configurator). I've always wondered in the back of my mind if yellow would be a cooler color, especially since folks don't buy yellow 911's very much anymore. So suddenly at our monthly PCA brunch my wife saw a racing yellow 718 and wants me to get yellow instead of blue. So my two configs are now:

GentianBlue: 911 Carrera T | Porsche Car Configurator. (current order)
RacingYellow: 911 Carrera T | Porsche Car Configurator. (updated)

Big diff w/ yellow is with the interior - going with red instead of shark blue seat belts (I know, Old Bay look now, which I guess is better than Ronald McDonald), not doing the exterior color trim on the dash and console, plus adding yellow tach and chrono dials. But I literally never see any 992s in yellow in the DC area. Is resale / dealer pressure the driving factor or people just don't like yellow cars?

Are we weird for liking yellow?

Color is personal. I love Gentian. NOT yellow! If you pic yellow, IMO the interior should be sober. Yellow exterior, red seat belts and yellow dials is way too much of everything for me. Good thing you didn’t add interior trim in exterior color. 😱

Then again happy wife, happy life! 🤪

I'm not a yellow fan either but to each his own. Regardless I personally think if you go loud on the exterior you should be more subtle in the interior and/or vice versa. Two "louds" is a bit much imo.

@CH61 is right. Colour is a personal choice so do what makes you, or more importantly your wife happy. 😜

However, since you asked, yellow isn’t something I‘d consider buying.on a 992. GB is stunning. Easy decision If it were my build.

P.S. «If someone was to..... buy a yellow car it could suggest that person has a naturally fun and playful personality. It could also suggest that they like to do things differently than other people. They don’t care so much about other people’s opinions or conforming to the norms of society. They don’t like to be conventional and they place high value on being unique. Possibly an extroverted personality that has a strong desire for attention and being noticed, or perhaps just a desire to express themselves and to be unique."

Are you in there somewhere?

Just as a matter of reference, 6 out our last 8 cars the last 25 years have been black, silver, or white. The exceptions were a fairly muted blue metallic Volvo S40 (wifemobile) and my first Porsche (a Cayman in Ruby Red metallic, which 2 years later became a premium color and basically no equivalent color in the Pcar lineup has existed for about 6-7 years, not even in PTS). Yellow would be drastic - and it is interesting that literaily the only place I ever see yellow cars in the DC area (or anything not black, white, silver, muted blue or grey) is the occasional Cars and Coffee, and usually they are Corvettes and on occasion a 991 S. Even reds are pretty rare, though at a typical club event, there will be at least 3-4 Guards Red and Carmine Red Caymans and a few 991s. I guess everyone hibernates their cars these days. Even tuner cars are muted colors (or black/grey satin wraps) around here.
