I have noticed so nicks on the rear quarter panel of my car. Has anyone installed mud flaps behind the front tire to keep stone from kicking up.

Every used 992 I looked at had damage in that area. Tommy L Garage has what you're looking for.

I'm planning on putting ppf in that area that's bigger than the factory piece and hoping that'll do the job.

I have PPF covering the entire area so no. I don‘t like the look off those but that’s just me…good luck.

Think I'd put eyelashes on the headlights before i installed mudflaps. I too plan on PPF on the rear quarters to minimize stone chips.

Helllll no.....imo!

When we got the PPF done, removed the oem piece and had a bigger/thicker installed along with 2 coats of ceramic!

I would recommend you do the same.

LOL. I was waiting for the pitchforks to come out as they inevitably do when this topic comes up. There are different types sports car owners.

Some don't use their cars when the roads are covered in salt/sand/gravel (ie northern winter roads) and wouldn't even consider driving it on a gravel road. This group obviously doesn't need the protection. I'm in this category because I have other vehicles to drive when the roads are $hi!. Heck, I'm going to struggle to drive it in the rain!

There are others that live on gravel roads or choose to drive them for 4 seasons including "real" winters. I applaud them for doing so and think the guards look better than a destroyed paint job. I looked at a CPO car that'd been used at Porsche winter driving events and the paint was destroyed. I wouldn't even consider buying it.

I respect @MontanamMah for using his car all year while I'm staring at mine in the garage waiting for better roads.

BTW - ceramic coating will do nothing to protect from rock chips.

Indeed PPF all the way but Ceramic for ease of cleaning and shine.

I did say the expression on his face, not the actual face. Now that you mention it though, I’ll just stop.

You are forgiven.

I did not have a chance to read the whole thread. Just finishing work. My 991.2 came with the guards, thick plastics that faded within 2yrs. The 992 did not come with them. Mine was ppfed whole so no issue. But….are these guards optional? Did not see it in the options😝

My 992 came with rear quarter protection then I added PPF in all other areas. I think the only option was changing it to black.

That is interesting. Mine did not come with the guards.

I have other cars that I drive as well...and don't plan on driving the 992 as a daily or during inclement weather unless getting stuck unexpectedly. SoCal doesn't get crazy so I expect to drive our 992 every month. But those living elsewhere, more power to you. I would have a mini heart attack if our baby got any chips...sheesh loll

Agreed PPF for rock chips and ceramic for easier cleaning with that shine!

Hey I appreciate the link on the Mud Flaps. My entire car has PPF covering, but still picked up some marks in that area. Sent an email of to get a set made.
