Porsche 992 Targa 4 Gearbox Concerns

Hi,

I drive a 992 Targa 4 daily and have recently become concerned about the gearbox of the car. Most of the time, when I'm driving fast with high RPM and shift gears, I experience a small engine pause. I'm curious about why this happens, and if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them. I'm worried that there might be a problem with my gearbox, although I don't have much knowledge on the mechanical side, which might be why I'm getting paranoid about it.

Now, there's another question that has been bothering me a lot today. Today, while driving in manual mode (I have PDK by the way, and I switched to manual by clicking the "M" button under the shifter), I was in 2nd gear and about to accelerate. I'm not sure what happened, but after a second or two, the RPM went all the way to 8000 RPM, which is the red line, and the engine paused for a second. I wasn't flooring the throttle but somewhere between 60-70 percent. As soon as that happened, I shifted gears and continued driving. There was nothing wrong with the car, but it made me quite nervous because I thought I might have damaged it somehow. There were no error messages or anything, but as I mentioned, it made me concerned about the car. I've never reached 8000 RPM before, by the way.

My understanding is that these cars are sports cars and are meant to be driven with high RPM from time to time, although not all the way to the red line :D

What are your thoughts on this, and is there any way I could have damaged the car? I would love to hear your ideas and maybe receive some advice.

Have a nice day!

Not sure but those PDK’s are usually bullet proof. If you take it to your dealer I’m confident they can plug it in and diagnose any issues.

Sounds like you could be hitting the rev limiter. When you hit it, it feels like a pause. That's my thinking.
