Porsche had a hard time matching the 992's interior colors

Autocar wrote an interesting note in their weekly news round-up about Porsche finding it difficult to match interior colors in the 992.

Porsche quality control boss Frank Moser pointed out to Autocar that "the 11 interior colours offered on the new 911 had to work with 16 equipment levels and across 300 visible parts featuring 51 different materials, produced by 76 different suppliers."

This definitely makes sense given that Porsche has 18 different paint options for the 911 Carrera on their configurator, including the option to get a custom color. But when the numbers are written out like, that it's a bit mind blowing with all the possible combinations.

Options like this were around for the 991. Few took advantage of it unfortunately, sticking to far more common options found throughout the industry.

I wonder if that will change for people getting the 992. If not, maybe Porsche starts to reduce some of the possible combinations.
