Sorry, I was trying to delete this post as I'm not likely going to try to install the Escort 9500ci. It's probably too outdated.

I’ve done the mirror tap on my 992 coupe. Before I did the mirror tap I used the 12 volt plug in the passenger foot well which powers off after about 10-20 minutes. I hid the wires under the door seal and behind the headliner by the windshield.
You can also get a switched supply from the fuse box.
For my cabriolet I picked up a switched 5v supply from the usb connectors in the glove box and fed a small 5v to 12v inverter which now feeds my R7 radar detector- again I hid the wires under the center console and behind the door weather stripping.
I haven't had a radar detector in 20 years . They clock people from the sky here over painted lines . Occasionally a lone radar still exists but even more common is the officer just flows with traffic and plucks out the guy who blows by him not noticing . In fact thats what did in the radar for me . I remember being in my 20's and getting what was the first and best . I felt invincible so I blasted it and sure enough I got pulled over . I told the cop I got this awesome radar for the first time and was just testing it . He looked at me and said " I didnt even have radar on . I saw you flying " I felt so stupid . I was about 25 . He looked at me and said " do you see this little area of road from there to there " ? I nodded. He said "I am going to let you go but if I ever see you doing this on my turf right here I wil be writing for a long time." I thanked him . To this day I never drove over the limit on his turf even if he's retired by now . I promised I would and kept my word .

Good one Larry!

I bought a radar detector but found out after they were illegal in Pa. I only used it half a dozen times and forgot about it.

Uniden R7 for the Porsche and my wife’s Lexus.
I have an Escort for the BMW

Plus we always use Waze navigation
I travel frequently between Ga and Ct - the radar detector together with Waze are indispensable.
Around north Ga the police and sheriff’s department use radar a lot. Advance warning and vigilance have prevented potential tickets !!!
I would definitely recommend installing one.

Escort 360 C Laser detector
detects X Laser, KA band and the old fashion K band. GPS capable, records and eliminates false readings.
tells you if there are more than one, whether they are in front, to the side or behind you.
it’s not about driving 150 MPH……it’s just knowing where they are especially if your not paying attention!
hate to drive without it now.

I'm not a chronic speeder and generally travel with the flow of traffic. The radar detector is cheap insurance for the other times.

I recently upgraded to an escort 360c redline which reduced the false alarms from car blind spot sensors and other sources. It's not foolproof protection but works well for the occasional sprint on quieter roads.
Photo radar is the new "Sheriff" in Montreal and he's bringing in millions in Quebec's coffers (and in french! :p)

I currently use a valentine one generation two that seems to work very well! I’m not a speeder either, but I feel better using it. It is a legal in Pennsylvania where I am but who cares. It saved me a handful of times with cops, hiding behind barns, etc.

Upgraded from a Uniden R3 to R8 with a blend mount. Hard wired unit. I do not speed but I do not want a surprise.

I love Porsche owners. None of them admit to speeding. Ha Ha
How does the R8 look mounted to the mirror?
That is the same thinking I’m thinking about

Exactly! But everybody has a radar detector. Well, except me, I never go over the limit! 😂🤪

Whole thing about detectors is ya gotta be smart when using them. In NY, the Troopers hide up
On ramps so as you go whizzing past they hit you with instant on or laser from behind. Either that or they hide in turn arounds that are wooded. Can’t just turn on a detector and think you’re safe bc you aren’t.
