I have 2 Uniden 7’s and a Passport

I would recommend either brand

I use the radar detector together with Waze police warnings to give me as much advance warning as possible
I stopped using my Escort as Waze became handy and the "need for speed" died. Waze is most definitely helpful, for example, when I am in Dubai as they have "Speed Cameras" and Waze has them perfectly so you know to slow down well in advance and then let it rip. Happy to say, to date, not a single speeding ticket on my 15' 458 spider.

I'm torn between the Valentine V1 Gen2 and Uniden R8.

Either one is a win - both are top of the line.
I happened to get a good price on the Uniden - that’s why I went that route.

Escort redline 360c. Big upgrade from my previous 10yr old detector with much fewer false alerts.
I’m leaning towards the Uniden R8 😬 The Valentine doesn’t have GPS…wonder why for such a class of Radar!

IMHO GPS is essential. it enables the radar to remember and ignore false alarms on your frequently travelled routes and can also utilize a database of stationary speed cameras/red light cameras so you get a warning before you reach them. The redline occasionally and automatically updates the database over wifi when I park at home.

Didn’t know that, thanks.

I believe it is the same with R8. Will make a decision this coming week between the Escort or the Uniden. Appreciate the insight brother. Thank You!
