I gave my guy all the time he needed . It took 4 days (including a Sunday ).@yrralis1 White certainly is the fastest color ha! Thus far, just driving it up on to the flatbed and off, I’m at a loss for words. Its going to take a bit longer than I anticipated for PPF, Ceramic and Tint but well worth the wait imo. SoCal rock chips, either on the freeway or city, are killleerrrsss!!!
Are they asking you for more money?Brand new and still needs paint correction!!!!
This is unfortunate and unexpected at this level.
No choice, have to get it done before the PPF goes on.
The shop sent pics & vids however I can’t upload the vids, still learning the form.
What do you all think?
You may end up going for another round with something Porsche. If not, now you know, it’s going to happen someday.Oh to go back in time! I’d like to take delivery all over again!
I would try a different place . This is a small forum and I love it but on Rennlist if you ask for a good detailer in your area you'd find one who won't make you wait 3 weeks . I am not ready to blame the dealership . A closeup picture might show the glue from the film as a swirl . I cant tell by the picture . You need to look at this in person .Definetly will be sharing with the dealership tomorrow. Lets see what they have to say. Most likely, please bring it in and we’ll take care of it or give a parts credit because I am sure they do not want to compensate $$. But to deal with the hassle of towing it back to the dealer from GP and then back again. Might just take an offer for future detail.
Usually dealerships have a special person for delivery who is separate from the porters . Mine doest let anyone wash a car that isn't qualified . They also sell Ferrari and Mclaren so with these types of expensive vehicles they make sure to do it right .Yup..that’s how mine arrived as well. I am thinking this maybe the “porters” work wiping it down or half ass washing for delivery to us. What else can it be? I can’t think of anything else.
Wish I could upload videos here to show ya’ll more in detail.
None the less, will be going down to GP tomorrow morning to see first hand because I want to take this issue back to dealer for some sort of rectification.
I first read about my guy on an auto forum in the South Florida section in 2007 . Then it was the shop foreman who mentioned him as being the best in town at my dealership. His name was stated as "El Chino" but that isn't his real name . It's actually Yonny . His story is very interesting . 25 + years ago he worked in a body shop . Originally from Honduras he just worked on the cars until he caught the attention of a billionaire car collector . He noticed a talent and asked Chino to maintain his cars . I know guys here post their garages and mine is a mess but I have never seen anything like that collector's garage . Penthouse vaulted ceiling , air conditioned, hurricane proof, with a collection size of a football field . Some of the older classic cars Chino restored . Chino started finding very wealthy clients . I am beyond small, potatoes . Miami has some serious cars . After about 15 years the guy told Chino its time to get his own place and since he owns building leased him a small nice shop . It even has two lifts so he can get under the car to clean if needed .Yup..being told they will see how the one-step correction goes and if needed, another go around. But it is freaking brand new. Smh!
Either way, it has to be done before PPF so no choice
Who is your guy..!?!?!! Must be one of kind. Do share plz!
I hear you . At least its spared from rain driving . I see the weather (national news) and it looks awful . We get plenty of it here but its no fun .Hey fells, so I went yesterday afternoon and had a good look. There are swirlies and webbing unfortunately. I believe when it was washed and prepped for delivery to us is when this may have happened. None the less, I have no choice but to get it taken care of. I’m so disappointed because now it adds more time to the car. And it’s been raining every other day here in SoCal…I mean we are in Sunny Cali, where’s our sun..!?!?!! Trying to stay positive here fellas.
I never did PPF until this 992 . In fact I did not get it on my 23 Macan . Much depends on where you live and drive (potholes, rocks , a lot of daytime highway ). I did the standard things which you stated above . I did not to the lights . There is mixed opinion on damage from doing the lights (its a debate topic for some). I have yet to have a stone hit my car in 10K miles . Now watch a boulder hit my car today .. just kidding .What do most people get covered on their cars for PPF? My 718 has front bumper, hood, fenders, rockers, door handles, mirrors and rear bumper/behind the wheel well and back and that seemed like a lot. Is that fairly standard for 992 as well or do people go full PPF? Less?
Same here . I mentioned it on Macan Forum and it ruffled some feathers turning it into a debate . My guy also won't do them anyway .Larry, didn’t do headlights either but the installer doesn’t use it there anyway so I didn’t need to make that decision.
If I crack the headlight its an insurance claim . If I damage the headlight by putting PPF its on me . I had both lights replaced on my 991.2 GTS free of charge . They became worn from the sun and Porsche did "goodwill" the repair after 5 years . I traded the car in with new lights and new dash (old one melted) . Sun is a big deal here .Seems to be 50/50 split on all the forums on whether to PPF the headlights. Porsche does not recommend it. I didn't find it but apparently there is an explicit notice in the owner's manual to not apply stone guard to the headlights . On the 718 Forum I read "If you apply PPF on headlights it will void your warranty on your headlights or anything related to your lights". I can understand why some installers refuse to go against Porsche recommendations (likely for liability).
So, If you crack your headlights it’ll cost you $2k each to have them replaced. If you have a warranty claim on your headlights denied as a result of having PPF fitted it’ll cost you $2k. You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Got a love, a white car! It’s simple, understated, and elegant.Quick update fellas…Tints done. Now we wait for the paint correction then PPF and finally ceramic. The wait continues…

There’s certain cars that have a really great quality white paint. One of them is Rolls-Royce and Bentley. If you see one in white up close, it is strikingly beautiful. Porsche is next in line to that level. On vehicles like a cayenne or Macan it’s somewhat lost in a sea of white SUVs . On a 718 or 911 though it is pure sport. It looks spectacular with either silver wheels or satin black. It goes well with the red steel brakes as well as the yellow ceramics. It even goes with both GTS packages. Whether it’s chalk, stitching or Carmine white it’s a home run. There’s so many things I like about the color that it was my top contender against GT silver.I had a white Pontiac Formula Firebird back in the mid eighties. Loved it and felt like a king! Might still have my parachute pants too!
