Exactly! LOL! So much more convenient, especially if it’s hot out and you can put the top down to release the hot air in cabin before getting in.

Seriously, why doesn’t the US spec have this feature. Watching the euro reviews I thought my 992 would have it. Not fair! 😅

 

I installed a SmartTop controller in my BMW 135i cabriolet and it provides super convenient operation.
There are multiple programmable features for the top, windows and mirrors which BMW USA didn’t activate.
I actually met the owner / developer of this product. Super nice guy and a programming genius.
Most manufacturers won’t provide him with the data he needs to program the logic so he “reverse engineers” for each model car.
He either rents a specific car or uses a willing owners car !!!
I will probably purchase the SmartTop for my cab in the near future.
install is plug and play and is a lot easier on the Porsche than it was on my BMW.

I can't believe they don't offer that stock. My '08 Z4M Roadster has a one touch top down on the remote so it must have been safe then!

 

That was my point. The C8 has it and so does MB and your Z4, why not offer it on the 992?

 

I am very frugal, i will use my finger. There has to bw a way to use oem way to activate the system. Getting a European fob and programming it to us/cdn car

 

Smart! But I suspect that the cost of a new fob will equal the SmarTop module. Then you have to pay for the programming on top..

 

Isn’t being frugal and owning a Porsche an oxymoron 🤣🤣🤣

Does your 992 fob have a blank button on it? Obviously my 992 coupe fob does not. I cannot remember how many buttons does my 991.2 cab has.

Yup! I have the blank button. I suspect your 991.2 cab has one also.

 

I live in Brazil and my 992 came with the top opening by the fob. Just hold down the button and the top opens.

However, the dealer does not recommend using this function with the car turned off, as repeated use can damage the battery.

This limits this functionality because I usually need to open/close the top when I'm out of the car with it turned off. 🙃
